DaDaAwards Nomination Information
Voting open for this year's DaDaAwards for Disabled and Deaf artists and community groups.
DaDaFest International 08 climaxes with the UK's only annual Award ceremony celebrating the achievements of disabled and deaf artists. This year it is held for the first time at BT Convention Centre in Liverpool's new arena on 3rd December 08 as part of International Disabled Peoples Day.
Eight awards are up for grabs and the winner will receive around £500 to develop their art work.

1. Newcomer Award sponsored by Breakthrough UK. This award is to acknowledge an individual artist who has been developing their arts activity within the last two years
2. Writers Award once again this year's Writers award is being sponsored by ITV Granada. The award recipient will win the unique opportunity to be part of the Coronation Street story office for three weeks, write a trial script and obtain feedback from the Producer and Assistant Producer.
3. Emerging Community Event or Group sponsored by Merseyside Disability Federation. This award is to acknowledge a company or group who have been developing their arts activity within the last two years
4. Visual Arts - Tate Liverpool will work with the artist to develop a unique programme of support pitched at the professional development needs of the award recipient. Main sponsor to be confirmed.
5. Performance Arts sponsored by Liverpool First. This award will be given to an individual or group who operate in any form of performance, dance or theatre.
6. New Media Award - FACT will work with the artist to devlop a support package that may lead to the opportunity to exhibit in September 2009 at FACT. Sponsored by Government Office North West.
7. Community Event or Group sponsored by Liverpool One - This award is designed to acknowledge the service and commitment of any group who have engaged in community arts projects.
8. Lifetime Achievement Award again sponsored by National Museums Liverpool - this award is designed to acknowledge the acheivement of a key Disability or Deaf Arts achiever. It will be the only award that will be decided in October once applications have been received.
2. Short-listing Nomination Process
2.1 Nominations for the shortlist are invited for each category through completing an application form from NWDAF
2.2 Nominations can be made for yourself or for someone else. If being made for someone else, the person or group must be informed and give their permission.
2.3 The deadline to receive completed application forms is Tuesday 28th October 2008.
2.4 A specialist panel of Disabled & Deaf artists and award sponsors will assess the application forms and create a shortlist in each category. Staff and Board members of NWDAF will not be part of the shortlisting panel.
2.5. This will be announced for on-line or postal voting from Monday 3rd November 2008
2.6 The panel decisions are final.
2.7 The final judging will be made via number of votes cast per nominee, except for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
2.8 Voting is open to members of the public either on-line or through the post. Only one vote per category will be counted. Multiple votes made by the same e-mail address will be limited to just 2 votes per address. If a group is wishing to make more than two votes per category, please contact the office for advice
2.9 All votes will be checked and verified by external adjudicators to ensure fairness and honesty in counting the votes. Multiple voting from the same address or votes that appear to have been fixed will not be counted.
2.10 No votes will be accepted if they appear to have been solicited ie petioned forms
2.11 The nominees should make themselves available to attend the DaDaFest Dinner and Awards ceremony on 3rd December, at the BT Convention Cnetre, Liverpool Areana Liverpool when the results will be announced.
2.12 A free ticket will be issued to each of the award nominees
2.13 The shortlisting panel choices will be final and reasons for nominations failing to make the shortlist, will not be disclosed.
3 Award Details
Each Category carries the equivalent of £500 for the person or group receiving the most votes.
The award results will be made on 3rd December 08 by the sponsoring company. The awarding artist or group must be willing to have photographs taken at the presentation.
